A trip to the dentist can be nerve-racking, whether it be for a checkup or having a tooth pulled. Unfortunately these 5 clinicians didn’t help…
1. Jacobus van Nierop – A Dutch dentist working in France was jailed for 8 years and banned from the profession for mutilating over a hundred patients. The offences included extracting healthy teeth, breaking jaws, and treatments that left patients with infections and in some cases septicemia. He would often heavily drug his patients before assaulting them. His treatments were a driven by possible narcissistic tendencies and also taking advantage of victims medical insurance. WTF!
2. Glennon Engleman – This dentist inspired the slasher movie ‘The Dentist’. Engleman became a dentist in the 1950’s but his side hustle was murder for cash. Essentially a hit-man. He would arrange and carry out the killings by shootings, beatings and bombings to gain access to life insurance payouts. He would often gain access to the payouts by collaborating with the spouse of the victim. He was imprisoned for life in 1980 and died in 1999. WTF!
3. In Regensburg, Germany 2018 an American dentist strangled and hid her husbands body in a Czech forest. The couple were in the midst of a divorce, when an argument broke out resulting in the husbands death. The dentist disposed of the body in the forest of the neighboring country of Czech Republic. When the body was found it was gruesomely discovered that the victims teeth had been removed. WTF!
4. In North Carolina, USA, 2005 a dentist was jailed for four months and was struck off the dental register. Dr John Hall would make his patients swallow an unknown substance from a syringe to ‘help stop bleeding’. Staff members became suspicious and secretly collected some of the syringes. DNA tests eventually proved that the syringes contained semen! WTF!
5. Rodger Garry Leighton of Sydney, Australia was imprisoned for sexually molesting patients. He would use nitrous oxide, commonly known as ‘laughing gas’, and then assault his victims. He was convicted of attacking five girls and three women between 1974 and 1983, but was only incarcerated 40 years later at the age of 81! WTF!
